Home entertainment systems have been going the route of large flat screen displays. Whereas before when if you wanted a large flat panel you had to have a home movie system. TV sizes started to increase with 40-inch CRT displays, these were almost immediately followed by 52-inch CRT. These were large video sets. Large and getting huge.

Nowadays, there are several affordable choices and fantastic cheap LCD TVs. There are DLP projector systems, plasma and LCD systems. For large displays, plasma flat panel sets are the way to go. But for systems as large 40- or 50-inches, LCDs offer an viable options.

Large flat panel displays need not be expensive. The cost of LCD systems have been steadily becoming more affordable and the new sets are full HDTV compliant and with multiple input sources.

LCD TV flat panel systems do have disadvantages. These come with the display technology or how the pixels are displayed on the screen. Consumers check the pixels by carefully viewing for the rendering of black. Since LCDs use a backlight for the picture elements to appear on screen the light leaks out through the matrix display and makes the rendering of black look a bit gray.

In terms of longevity, LCDs compare well with other technologies. For small TV sizes, LCD systems are cheaper than plasma, but the cost of LCD sets don’t scale well with larger systems, those larger 40-inches.

With recent research and developments, the cost of flat panel displays are getting less expensive all around. And with new technology and newer releases with more and better features, the cost of new and used displays are getting cheaper as well. There are even some used LCD flat panel sets of 30-inches in size which are cheaper than new CRT TV displays.

Whether these are brand new or used and previously owned, affordable LCD TV panels are fairly common. It’s possible to find affordable large LCD flat panel displays for the discriminating users who want to acquire new home entertainment systems.
